Bob Slinn - Deputy Conductor, 2nd Tenor
Bob is a highly respected figure in the musical life of Stoke-on-Trent and has dedicated much of his life to the tradition of male voice choral singing. Bob served as Musical Director for the City of Stoke-on-Trent Male Voice Choir for an outstanding 33 years, helping shape the choir’s musical identity, community reputation, and enduring success.
During his tenure, Bob guided the choir through a significant period in its history, including its transition from the historic Parkhall Colliery Male Voice Choir to the modern City of Stoke-on-Trent Male Voice Choir in the Millennium year. Under his leadership, the choir expanded its profile through concerts, exchange visits, charity performances, and collaborations with young musicians and community organisations across Staffordshire and beyond.
Known for his commitment to musical excellence and his encouragement of singers of all ages and abilities, Bob became a respected ambassador for male voice singing within the Potteries. His direction helped maintain the choir’s proud heritage while embracing new audiences and opportunities for performance.
Even after stepping down as Musical Director in 2024, Bob’s dedication to the choir has continued. He now serves as Deputy Conductor and remains an active chorister, demonstrating both his enduring passion for music and his loyalty to the choir family he helped nurture for more than three decades.
